On the ground floor of the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, behind colonial-style gates inspired by 19th-century Argentine architecture, BKK Social Club has established itself as Thailand’s most consistently acclaimed cocktail destination. Ranked 49th on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025 and 19th on Asia’s 50 Best Bars—making it Thailand’s highest-rated bar on both lists—this is where Latin American glamour meets Thai precision in a setting so lavishly designed it would feel excessive anywhere but Bangkok.
The bar opened in December 2020 under the leadership of Philip Bischoff, a Berlin-born beverage director with decades of experience at establishments like Manhattan in Singapore. His team includes Chunyanuch “Ning” Yodsuwan, one of Thailand’s most recognised female bartenders, alongside a hospitality crew so accomplished that BKK Social Club won the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award in 2022—a distinction that recognises not just what’s in the glass but how it’s served.
The Design
Designed by the internationally acclaimed studios AvroKO and Proof Creative, BKK Social Club draws on Belle Époque grandeur and Argentine colonial architecture to create something that Four Seasons describes as “impossibly luxe”—and, for once, the marketing matches reality. Soaring arches reminiscent of Golden Era cinema frame a towering mirrored back bar that cascades with dramatic effect. Opulent green velvet banquettes stretch from floor to ceiling. Tumbling greenery—lush ferns and plants suspended from chandeliers with concealed lighting—creates pockets of botanical intimacy within the larger space.
The colour palette is gold and emerald, the lighting warm and sensuous (2,200–2,400K), and the patterned stone floors are illuminated with undulating pools of gold downlighting. Semi-outdoor spaces cater separately to cigar aficionados and communal gatherings. The effect is immersive: layers of colonnades invite exploration, and the riverside setting provides the Chao Phraya as a backdrop that no amount of design can replicate.
The Cocktails
The menu evolves thematically, currently paying tribute to Mexico City—its iconic places, people, and parties. Cocktails feature largely proprietary infusions and macerations, a dedicated bottled section, and a substantial champagne collection. Standard cocktails begin at ฿550 per glass, with a journey of three 40ml tipples available at ฿880.
Signature creations include La Capilla (strawberry cenote tequila, mezcal, citrus, and sparkling pink grapefruit—named after the historic bar in Tequila where the original was invented); Chiapas (rum, cold brew espresso, popcorn, and amaro); and Chichén Itzá, a clarified milk punch with bourbon, pineapple, banana, cacao, and sesame milk. The Mezcal Negroni features pineapple Campari, coffee vermouth, and olive saline—an ingenious reworking of the classic. A tribute to Frida Kahlo encapsulates the artist’s rich cultural narrative in liquid form.
The Food
Executive Chef Andrea Accordi has created a Latin-inspired menu designed for sharing and cocktail pairing. The BKK Signature Guacamole (avocado, pickled cucumber, dill oil, Sancho pepper, blue corn chips) is a table essential. Hamachi Ceviche with young coconut and passion fruit bridges Latin and tropical Thai flavours. Wagyu Beef Brisket Asado with honey miso glaze and smoky mojo rosso is substantial enough to anchor an evening, whilst Lobster Tacos and Chorizo & Wagyu Sliders satisfy those seeking more indulgent bites.
Guest Bartenders and Events
The bar’s Salón Social guest bartender programme brings the world’s finest mixologists to Bangkok. Previous guests include Tato Giovannoni, founder of Argentina’s top-ranked bar Florería Atlántico. The annual Liquid Legends event transforms the Four Seasons into a global stage, with six of the world’s most celebrated bars each presenting original creations. Meanwhile, the Four Seasons “Best Sip on Tour” sends the BKK Social Club team to guest-bartend across North America, extending the bar’s international influence.
